Parenting with a Purpose
Q. How do I register?
A. Complete the registration form (link), choosing which dates you want to attend. Turn the form in to the Centers office. Or, call the Centers office and register over the phone.
Q. What will I be learning?
A. Parenting with a Purpose includes the following four classes:
1. Child Development
This class will review the impact parents have on their child’s physical, cognitive, and emotional development.
2. Discipline & Communication
The purpose of this class is to help parents learn effective communication skills to build a stronger and healthier relationship with their children and to learn appropriate and healthy discipline styles.
3. Building Self-Esteem
This class will teach the parent’s role in the foundation of personal value for their child.
This class covers what a co-parenting relationship is and is not, how to communicate in a co-parenting relationship, restructuring ways of decision-making, parenting plans for joint decision-making and problem-solving, and what to do if the other parent won’t co-parent.
Q. How do I receive credit for the class?
A. After you attend all four classes in the series, you will receive a “graduation” certificate. This certificate can be given to the referring agency as proof of completion. We can also submit status letters.
Q. What about childcare?
A. We have experienced workers who have passed background checks that will care for children ages 2 years and older. Pre-registration is required for childcare. Childcare for children under 2 years old is not offered.
Q. What happens if I miss a class?
A. All four classes are required for the certificate. If you miss a class, you may take just that class the next time the program is offered and receive your certificate at that time.
