Centers Post Adoption Services
Centers for Children and Families is the agency that coordinates services for adoptive families living in DFPS Regions 1,2,4,5,7,8,9, and 10. Families who live outside of the State of Texas, who have adopted from the listed TXDFPS Regions also qualify for services through Centers. Our services are designed to keep adoptive families intact and provide access to programs that focus on building a strong family foundation.
Supporting Adoptive Families
Our Post Adoption Program comes to the aid of families that have accepted the responsibility of adopting a child that has previously been in the state’s foster care system. Many of these children have suffered abuse, neglect, and/or abandonment at the hands of their birth parents. It is the mission of our program to ensure that these families not only survive, but thrive with healthy, whole relationships. The staff members of Post Adoption Services are trained and experienced in assessing needs and providing services to adoptive families. Services are provided at no cost for eligible clients. See below for eligibility standards.
Heart Galleries of Texas Partnership
We know that permanency is not the end of the journey. It is the beginning of a lifelong family relationship. While adoption, kinship care, and other forms of permanency give children stability, safety, and connection, families can still face unexpected challenges and needs along the way.
Through this partnership and grant funding, we help connect eligible post-permanency families to services within their community and are able to offer funding to help with these services. Services may include family bonding and wellness activities, respite opportunities, and emergency and basic-needs assistance. Available services vary by Region, so please visit your regional page to learn what is offered in your area and how to request support. Grant funding is not available in Region 07.
We are honored to partner with Heart Galleries of Texas in recognizing that families need support beyond the point of permanency. Our hope is that these resources will provide practical help when families need it, along with opportunities to connect, have fun, and strengthen their relationships.
Permanency is just the beginning, and we are excited to support families as they continue their journey together!
